My wife was trying to make a FaceTime call with her brother in Japan who was suffering after vaccine shot during this COVID-19 situation. She may did accidentally make an international call without any warning or message. After I saw the bill, I was shocked that the fee was $150 with $55 fee. I texted the customer service but got no help from them. I have been a Verizon customer for more than 10 years. I could not believe the customer service department was not willing to help me. At the meantime, they were selling me some new features and plans.
Facetime uses data, not voice service. Worst that would have happened was potential data overages if you didn't have unlimited data. An international call falls on the user, not the carrier.
As far as the upselling on plans, Verizon has been especially disgusting since Covid started. They get onto agents who don't upsell during a global pandemic.
