Is my plan eligible to gift data?
You might want to call Customer Service at 800-922-0204 or *611. This is primarily a user-to-user forum of VZW customers.
What do you mean by "gift" data?
Do you mean to purchase a "data boost" for someone's unlimited data plan? You can always "gift" the money needed to make that purchase.
Do you mean you are on an unlimited data plan and don't get close to your 22 GB limit of high speed data before re-prioritization and would like to share some of your high speed data with others on your account who do exceed their 22 GB limit? No.
Do you mean you are on a tiered data plan and would like to "gift" some of your unused monthly allowance to someone else on a separate plan? No.
A little clarification would be helpful.

Supposedly it can be done, but good luck.
My son, who is also on Verizon and has a small data plan, was on his way to Florida. I used my VZW app to gift him one GB of data. It gave me a message stating that he couldn't receive the gift. I tweeted Verizon's service to ask. We went back an forth with private messaging on Twitter for just over two hours. They kept asking me things. I gave them his phone number and address. Then they asked if he had a My Verizon account set up. Then they said he would need to approve the gift. Really? I was going to charge it on MY account. I told them he was on a flight to Florida. They wanted him to call when he landed. Calls to VZW customer service are never quick. I said he was on vacation and I didn't want him to spend two hours on the phone. Geez. And I wanted to surprise him. My last message to them was thanks for the time but I didn't understand why it should be that difficult and time consuming.
So as I said, Good Luck!
Gjwk, those gifts certainly do come in handy. We would be glad to explore the options. Which plan do you currently have?

To: rcschnoor,
Ok, here is some clarification; I want to surprise someone who is also a Verizon customer with some extra data. Is that clarification enough?
Put another way, I want to buy some extra data and send(gift) it to some one else who obviously is not on my family plan nor do they share a plan with me. But they are a Verizon customer.
Do you need more clarification?

Thank you for the clarification, BANDON. You can gift data only if you are on a GB plan as well. I mean if you have unlimited, you can't. Your account needs to be at least 60 days old, registered to My Verizon and qualify for Carrier Billing. www.verizonwireless.com/data-gift/ Does this help?
