Why does Verizon use this terrible service?
My son's ipad broke. I filed a claim with Asurion, they responded saying I had 24 hours to redeem my claim. I redeemed it 20 hours later and the message said "it's been too many days, call this number". When I call the number they just hang up EVERY SINGLE TIME, regardless of whether I stay on the line or do the call back. They've hung up on my 8 times now, without ever speaking to a human.
Trying to get ahold of customer service through chat is the exact same dead end. Why am I paying so much money for insurance and can't even use it the one time I actually need it.

Then Verizon gives me the same nonsense when I try to call. Endless runaround and hours of waiting, yet to actually reach a human being. I've been with Verizon for 15 years, but I suppose it's time to shop around for a carrier that isn't so bloated and predatory.
Verizon has nothing to do with Asurion or their policies, they only offer the service as optional. All carriers use them, there isn't really many insurance options for phones. For iOS devices, you should use Apple Care.
