Beyond frustrated trying to reach support

I just spent an hour trying to get connected to somebody at Verizon support.  The thing just keeps saying "we're sorry you are having trouble" or "we cannot connect you at this time" and hanging up instead of connecting me to an agent.  The one time I did manage to reach somebody they apparently could not hear me.

The "chat with us" option on the website just says "this doesn't look like a prepaid number" and won't connect to anybody.  This is a joke.

Is there any way to actually reach somebody at Verizon or do I just switch to a provide that has customer service?
