We went into a store and was told we could trade in our Apple 4s phones and get two 5s for free. So we did that and then signed up for the edge program. We got our bill and it is $100 more than our bill when we were at ATT. We want to switch and pay the $99.99 per 5s phones up front for a 2 year contract and want to know if that is possible since we are already on the edge program.
No you can't.
What plan are you on, and how much data did you select. We can make sure you are getting the right price. Usually the first bill is a higher for prorating costs and possible extra purchase taxes. For that reason it helps to know what state you are in.
WIth the 5S, depending if you have more or less than 10 GB data, Edge will actualy be cheaper per month than $99 and 2 year contract.
We live in Nevada. We told them that we wanted to stay in the $170 range for our phones and with the edge it bumped it up to $265 a month. We can't do that amount and would like to pay $100 each upfront and discontinue the edge plan since it wasn't explained very well to us.
They did not explain things to you very well.
It does not make sense to switch from 4 GB from 10 GB, as that saves $10, but costs $10 more for Edge. Go back to 10 GB
To fully understand we need to know how many lines you have, include how many basic phones, smartphones, and other devices. Also which are out of contract, in contract or on Edge.
SO far we only know:
$23/m x 2 for Edge payment, $70 for data, and $25 x2 for line fee or $166
You you should go to 10 GB since that makes no change:
$23/m Edge x 2, $80 for data, but only $15 for line fee x2, or now down to $156 - YES! More data saves money!!
Tell sell us the rest and we can tell you the options. I can tell you Edge does not seem to be the problem, and can at a minimum save you $14!
If you only have the 2 iPhone 5S on edge, your bill should be around the promised $170, including taxes. We can figure out where the problem is, but edge is saving you money not costing more.
We just have the two 5s phones. We got a bill for $100 more than we were told. Is that because it was the first bill? Will our bill go down to $170 a month? The bill is not very easy to understand. Thank you for this help. We are just frustrated.
without seeing the bill, it is most certainly charges since you got the phone, plus charges for the next month. Then next bill goes down to expected level. but very seriously, bump your data back to 10, it really saves you money In Your situation.
I'm sorry to learn of this experience, ekwall. It's important that the correct expectations were set at the time of your purchase. I'd like to take a closer look for additional options. I have sent you a direct message, please reply so I can assist.
