I am looking to switch service providers and take my phone numbers with me. I have one phone that we were paying for monthly and I paid that off early. Can I cancel and take that number without a cancellation fee?
Also, if I cancel after the new billing cycle begins, will the next bill be pro-rated?
To move your phone number to another carrier, you need to port your number to that carrier. You start the port process at the new carrier. The port itself will cancel your account with Verizon Wireless. If you cancel service before porting your number, you will lose the number.
You will only have cancelation charges if you are under contract or you have a remaining balance on a device payment agreement. Those are due in full in the final bill received after you port the number or cancel the account.

Verizon Wireless doesn't pro-rate the billing cycle if you leave in the middle of the billing cycle. It is all noted in the Customer Agreement.

I've completed the port process but my new phone will only accept iMessages and no sms. Does that mean my account is not terminated with Verizon?
It just means the port didn't fully complete. Call your new provider and ask them to check on the port process.

when I try to cancel using ...account then devices.....it doesn't have the device option in the menu. then what do i do?????
We are sad to hear that you left Verizon Wireless, Bnjmnlau. With the port process being completed, we suggest reaching out to your new service provider to troubleshoot the activation issues as they will have proper access to your new account and service.Once the number is ported, this would then suspend the Verizon Wireless service till the end of the bill cycle, which it would then be cancelled. Verizon now requires a "Transfer PIN" before the number will be allowed to "leave" Verizon. This 6 digit number is provided by Verizon (if you are lucky). Verizon requires this Tansfer Pin in order to release your number to another carrier.

RavelOmer We are sad to learn you want to leave us. Is there something we can do to turn this around?
