Cannot change mobile number online

I have been trying to change my mobile number online and running into errors.  I began by trying to do it through the My Verizon app on my phone. I go through the steps, choosing a number and when I want the number to be effective. When I try to go to the next step, I get a message saying that Verizon could find no device to send the authorization to.  I tried through the My Verizon website on my laptop.  I get to the point where it sends me an email for authorization.  When I click the authorization on the email, I see a message that Verizon has encountered an error. I tried again, and then got the message that I have reached my three-attempt limit and need to call Customer Service.  There is no charge for doing this online, but there is a charge for using Customer Service.

Has anyone encountered this before? What's the best way to deal with it?

Customer Support

We strive to ensure that My Verizon is a way for customers to easily be able to access and take actions with their account as they need to, and it pains me to hear these issues you had. As the website said, I would recommend getting in contact with our Customer Service team, so they can assist, and since you were unable to do it online where it would also be free, there shouldn't be an issue waiving the fee this time around. Feel free to call them in during business hours, or messaging our Social Media department on one of the many platforms that they are on. *Matthew
