Recently called tech support about continuing low signal strength in areas that I’ve never had problems before. After several troubleshooting steps, I was handed over to someone in the networking department.
Apparently not only does Verizon meter your data usage after you’ve hit your monthly cap. But now Verizon is decreasing your phone signal to the cell tower as well. I started noticing this about 6 months ago. Every time I’d call about service issues, I was being told about outages in certain areas due to the 5g upgrades. Found out today it was total false. This is a new thing Verizon is doing to its customers behind closed doors, so to speak, to get people into the larger data plans to make more money.
I was really starting wondering why I’d call about something related to my phone’s reception, I was always being told about the data usage on my account. I never really paid much attention to it until my conversation today. Then it all made sense. If I want better cell reception, then I need to upgrade my data plan. That is if I want to increase the amount of time I go from great cell reception back to hit-n-miss in a billing cycle.
Well done Verizon.
