I ruined my phone in a glass of soda. I contacted Verizon and initialized the Edge Up to get a new phone. The old phone will not even turn on. After a very long time I called Verizon back because I had not received a return label so I called and asked them if I could turn it in at the local store. I was told that it was safer to mail it because when phones get turned in at the store they get lost. The CS representative put labels in the mail and I received them and mailed my phone off and yet they are STILL claiming the phone is lost and I will now be charged a fee. This is VERY unfair! I could ave taken it to the local store and had verification that it was sent off and now I have no proof and will be charged? I am not a happy customer and if I am charged for a phone that I sent back I will leave Verizon for good. Its just too much of a coincidence that "lost phones" was brought up and now mine is "lost". It makes me wonder after reading some of these threads just how many times Verizon has pulled this to gain that extra fee.
It sounds as if you don't know much about the Edge plan.
When you Edge Up, you must return your old phone in good working order. If it is not in good working order, you will be charged the balance of your remaining Edge payments. You said your phone wouldn't even turn on. You will be charged a fee even if Verizon finds your phone.
The thing you should be unhappy about is because you ruined your phone. Your cost will be no different whether or not Verizon finds your phone.
You would need phone insurance to do what you did not edge up. Was there no tracking with your labels? Mary
