Verizon requires customers to periodically renew their employee discount either using a work email or by submitting a pay stub/statement as proof of eligibility. For those who don't have a work email, there is a lot of sensitive information on a pay stub/statement. No where on the vzw.com/discount page does it clearly state to black out sensitive info such as SSN, income, banking, etc., so I submitted proof of eligibility with all information viewable.
Given the numerous data breaches and cases of identity theft and not knowing how Verizon vets its Employment Verification Team, what is Verizon doing to safeguard customers' sensitive information? How long does Verizon store customer pay stubs for? Once employment has been validated, can customers request to have their pay stub/statement permanently deleted?
Would appreciate an official response from Verizon. Thank you.
To open up a postpaid account to begin with requires a credit check so not like Verizon doesn't have your info already.
