I see only option to subscribe to paid international calling plans, but in another place I read that I should be able to call some countries in Europe for free either unlimited minutes or 300 minutes are free. When I try to call, it says the call can't be completed as dialed. What should I do? It says that I'll be charged, if I subscribe to international calling plan....Does this mean that I still have to subscribe and after that the charges will be waived in some mysterious way?
I was wo,dering the same thing. AfterI received that text, I called my brother in Germanythis past Sunday. I received a text msg during the call, but ignored it since I figured it could wait. Imagine my surprise afterthe call, whenI read that textmessage and it said that I was being charged by the minute for an international call and should consider adding an International Plan!! This better not show up as a charge.
pat1861, we certainly know the importance of being able to stay connected to loved ones during this time as we all are having our lives changed in ways we never anticipated. We are providing free international calling for those who have enabled International dialing services on their account to select countries for more details please review question 4 "Is Verizon Offering free international calling" section of our FAQs page here:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/covid-19-faqs/. Customers who do not have an International plan will still receive a text message advising of a charge since that's automated in those instances even though those fees are being waived as described in that link.
