How to add new line but delay activation until Christmas

I am looking to get my stepdaughter a new phone for Christmas by adding a line to my Verizon account. She currently has a phone and line access through her mom’s Verizon account. Her mom has agreed to pay off the small balance on her old phone and unlock and transfer the phone number. Is it possible to order the new phone now as a new line on my account, leave it unopened until Christmas and then activate it/transfer the current phone number in store after?

CrazyChickenLady Wow! She is going to be so excited. What you can do is start a new line of service on your account, and order the phone. Once the phone ships you have 30 days to activate it. Once she opens her phone, you can request the transfer of her number to replace the new number on your account. Does this make sense? -Dolores
