My son would like to remove his line from our family plan and get his own personal line with Verizon so that he can have a different data plan. How am I able to remove his line/device from my family plan? His phone is fully paid off.

The current account owner can provide permission to release the line to your son in the My Verizon online account by using the steps on number one under the heading labeled as “Transferring phone line(s) I own to someone else” of the following web page https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/transfer-your-service-faqs/.
Then your son will receive an email to complete the process as shown in the “Receiving ownership of phone line(s) from someone else.” Does this help?
