Trying to complete a transfer request but am getting Http/1.1 Service Unavailable error when I authenticate the transfer request.

Same here.  I'm not sure what's happening with Verizon website today.  Submitted for a call back from them on this about 1 hour ago.  Said they would call within 4 minutes.  I guess I will need to stop in to a Verizon store to get my son's line transferred to my account.  Grrrr.
