I have a shared plan. One of the phones (mine) is a regular 2 year contract. Theirs is an Edge plan that was started at the end of September 2014. They have since reneged on their payments and I no longer wish to pay for two phones when I am only using one. How do I get rid of the Edge portion of my plan? I want to be on my own again. I want a straight up answer, none of the "answers" I have found have been anything but beating around the bush and I'm exhausted of looking.
To get out of Edge, simply pay off the remaining balance of the phones. Edge is NOT a contract.
Well...it's sort of a contract...like a rental agreement. I literally found what I was looking for after posting. I'm wondering if it's possible to transfer my current phone number on the regular plan to the Edge plan and early terminate the 2 year plan. I can't pay $500 for an "early termination" of the Edge agreement, the other way is a whole lot more affordable, but I can't afford to lose my phone number.
If you can get possession of the device that's on Edge and linked to your account, you can try to recoup some of balance of the device by selling it on eBay or Swappa. Some people have used Craigslist but that can be a scary avenue to take if you're not careful...
I am in possession of both devices, thankfully.
Loquat is right on selling the phone if you can get a hold of it. Edge agreements cannot be transferred nor an AOL performed, nor can you transfer a contract line to a non-contract agreement. The agreement is not a contract, it's an agreement to pay 24 monthly payments or up to 75% (before trading in on another Edge device.)
I'm grandfathered in with the 20 payments, or 60%, but that's if I wanted to keep the extra line.
If I could swap phone numbers between the two lines and just keep the Edge plan and early terminate the regular plan that'd be peachy.
There is this "TNI" process for switching numbers. This is not a well known process, and I do not even know if you can swap between a contract line and an Edge line. See the references in this posting (it was between 2 contract lines though, so not exactly like you):
Did you look into how much you owe on the phone and how much you can get for it on swappa or other reliable used phone site?
There's a balance of close to $500 on it.
I haven't checked Swappa.
I will be looking at the link you provided! Thank you!
