Another idea that can avoid some frustration in the future would be to go to a Verizon corporate store vs an independent retailer of their services. At corporate locations they do receive complete and proper training so this can help, but you'll still want to do research yourself before, and read all parts of your agreement. I do not intend to demonize authorized reseller stores, I have found a couple of ones from trusted word of mouth, there are 'good and bad' employees everywhere.
Ok, the outcome is a trip to a corporate based store. The two guys even told me that they are confused. The guy whose been there two days said he's wanting to quit. I'm not the first complaint.
I asked him how he would feel (and he was there yesterday listening to my initial sign-up)...I asked how he would feel if someone looked you in the eye and promised that your FIRST bill would only be such n such, the come to find its double. He said "I would be very angry".
Really? Because the guy who sold me the phone, who didn't even know that I COULD go over data, when I told him today that YES I can...and I have to pay 4.99 AND then I asked if he knew if it was per phone...he said YES...per phone!
Which is FUNNY because yesterday he did NOT even know I could go over data! You see my frustration? If you are a REP....meaning someone who REPRESENTS Verizon....shouldn't you at LEAST know your job?
Have we not made it clear to NOT believe everything a Verizon Rep says unless you are shown it in writing or verify through a source like the forums? If not PLEASE at least take away from this experience to do your own research and be shown the facts.
I was told my discount wouldn't go away when I paid off my Edge phone, I asked for something in writing under a FAQ page, or within a document and surprise surprise they didn't know of anywhere, but ASSURED me they were correct. I repeatedly told them I thought they were wrong and in the end they were. Thankfully I was smart enough to not trust them and to pay it off at the start of the month so I had time to reapply the discount before the billing cycle ended. No harm no foul, just another example of when a Verizon Rep is wrong.
. Also, it turns out, the 4.99 is per phone line to keep from accidently going over gigs.'
That is not true. The FamilyBase $4.99 is for the entire account not per line. I can positively confirm.
It's like a math teacher being paid to teach math...and then not actually knowing how to add.
Except a math teacher gets years more training.
