Do I have to pay the ETF for each line we cancel, or just one fee for cancelling the entire account? (our account has 2 lines and we'll be cancelling both) I know the smartphone fee is $350 - $10 per month used in contract, and we both have smart phones on this account.

Hello grob1224! Tikibar1 is correct with regards to each line having their own separate ETF charge, and contract end date. We're most definitely saddened to hear that you're considering leaving the VZW family. What's going on to make you consider this move? Let us know, as we'd love to help out!
Thank you for reaching out to us grob1224, and thank you for helping out tikibar1. May you both take care, and have a wonderful day.

We can't afford the costs of Verizon anymore. We're going to switch to a
cheaper carrier, but don't want to outweigh our savings with new fees, or
that will defeat the purpose. Guess we'll have to wait it out a little
longer till at least one of our contract end dates is up.

You don't have to wait too long, grob. T-Mobile just announced that it will pay all early termination fees for up to a family for five if you agree to trade in your devices. They also will give you a credit for each device, up to $300 (depending on the device that you're using.)
Their monthly service charges are also way cheaper in comparison.
It's the reason why I'll be switching soon, too.
I definitely understand that saving money and getting the best deal is important!
I definitely don't want to see you go. Have you done an account analysis http://bit.ly/1cUcgc1 to help determine the best plan for your usage? How many lines do you have and what plan are you on?
