I had my phone stolen yesterday. The phone is suspended and Verizon has told my dad that I can get back on his contract with a new phone.
A few questions, since the live chat is full:
1.) If I buy a phone from a third party like eBay, can I get my old number back? Can I retrieve photos/contacts from anywhere?
2.) IF I buy a phone from Verizon, can they restore my photos/contacts? I know I can keep my number already. If I just upgrade now (though I'm not eligible till August), about how much should I expect them to charge me?

1) Yes & maybe. Yes you can activate a replacement phone on your number. Whether or not you can retrieve pictures/contacts will depend on IF you had them backed up anywhere (iCloud, Verizon Cloud, Google, Drive, etc)
2) if they are offering you an upgrade today and you are not eligible until August my assumption would be that your Dad's line is eligible for an upgrade and you can use his upgrade to get your new phone. Cost would depend on what device you want - 2 year pricing ranges from free to $200 (and there are some even higher) plus a $40 upgrade fee.
Your contacts would be backed up, depending on which phone you used, to icloud or to google. They will be restored when you sign in to a new phone with your account.
Unless you back photos up, they are gone.
your phone number is not effected, you can put it on the new phone.
YOu you can buy a Verizon compatible phone on eBay, Amazon or any retail outlet, including a Verizon store. If you pay full price you are eligible for a line discount. Up grading early is unlikely.
