I feel there is a scam going on here. Our Data Usage is up significantly and we went OVER our data allowance just about every month since the start of the year. We are going over even when we are all at home using WIFI!!!! Our phones are set correctly, there is no confusion to us what is going on; WE ARE BEING RIPPED OFF! There is sure to be a class action lawsuit against Verizon for fraudulent charges soon. Just because you are ripping us off and have all our money does not automatically make us stupid. We are stupid believing that data is magically being used.
We are getting RIPPED OFF!
CESPIC96, we don’t want our customer to feel this way. Please tell us more about your concerns.

I agree, so have mine gone up and up. I think they scam the data usage..I am at 1 gig this month and have been very cautious this month and am at a gig already.
Staying on top of data use is certainly important. We are here to help! To ensure we are on the same page, we do have a couple questions. What make/model phone do you have? How do you normally use data?

I must unfortunately agree; intentionally or no, Verizon has had this happen previously, witness 2016. 18 months after switching, we were never, ever close to our limit. Had a pretty good bank of leftover data built up, etc. Then, around May or June, with nobody changing their usage, we are running out 3/4 of the way through the month. Sure enough I get the helpful call from the store a few weeks ago with a sales pitch for this most excellent new plan. And the replies here from support, "What are YOU doing?"; " How have YOU changed?"; "Tell us what YOU are up to" putting the onus on the customer are stalls. I wonder how many people bother? Anyhow, Verizon, if you must know, since these problems started, I have been using data saver mode on my phone, I won't even watch a lousy 30 second YouTube video or text a photo to a friend...I'm down to word texts and reading the occasional article. And the problem is worse, if anything. It's hard not to think the fix is in somewhere, but that's what the Public Advocate is for...had good luck getting a phone issue resolved with help from them years ago, I encourage contact.
CSEL70, we are always here to help with any issues you may have. To clarify, are you still experiencing any issues? If so, can you tell us in more detail about what is happening?

I am also experiencing the same issue without incorrect data usage. For my July billing cycle I was charged for going over my 5gb even though I had 1gb rollover and my mobile data was not even on! Since then I have downloaded a 3rd party data monitoring app, made correct settings so no data is allowed to be used in the background and the numbers still dont add up! My data monitoring app reads at 700mb for the month of August so far, while Verizon claims almost 2gb. To clarify this app also tracks phone calls, texts, absolutely everything! Does not add up.
I am having the same issue and am extremely frustrated. Up until recently my wife and I had the 2 GB plan and never got close, then all of a sudden we were having data issues and had to bump to 4 GB. Now we are at 8 GB and out of data again with 7 days left! The usage says it is all on my phone (iPhone X) and says it is mostly "Chat" whatever that means. We don't use Netflix, Facebook, Twitter, Games, nothing. All my phone is used for is checking email (never opening attachments) and Apple Music with occasional podcasts. Apple Music is used maybe 2 hours a week at most. Both of our phones are on Wi-Fi 90+% of the time (home/work). The data usage on Verizon says I am using anywhere from 350 MB to 1 GB of data sometimes in the middle of the night (like 3 AM), when we are both home, asleep in bed, with wi-fi. My phone (the "culprit") has Cellular data turned off on all but about 4 apps. It makes zero sense and I have been with Verizon for many, many years without a problem until this year. I'm about done with them. As it is my bill is $200/mo with a 22% employee discount! I will crush my phone and become an off-the-grid mountain man before I go another dime higher for a phone bill.
I 100 percent believe it the more date you have the faster it goes.
