The My Verizon Data notification center widget does not work on my iPhone. Once added, the widget says "Tap to Activate." If I tap on it, the My Verizon Mobile app opens, and a message is displayed saying, "To activate the Verizon Data Meter widget, go to application settings and turn on 'Allow Notifications.' This will enable Verizon to send real time updates to the widget." If I click on the "Go to Settings" link in the message, it takes me to the My Verizon app's iOS Settings, where "Allow Notifications" is already toggled on. If I toggle it off and then back on, the widget is still stuck saying "Tap to Activate." Tapping it again takes me back to the app, which displays the same message sending me back to settings, where it still says that notifications are already turned on. So, it should work, but it doesn't, and I'm stuck in an infinite loop.
On two occasions, after multiple cycles through the loop, restarts, toggling settings off and on, etc., the widget has started working for me. However, both times it has promptly stopped updating and reverted back to "Tap to Activate," resuming the infinite "Tap to Activate" loop. This issue occurred in iOS 8, and it persists in iOS 9.0.1 with app version 4.5.12.
I see that there is already a thread about this issue that was started last December; however, the problem appears to remain unsolved despite multiple generic troubleshooting replies from customer support: My Verizon 3.13.4 Data Usage Widget is stuck on "tap to activate". Is there a fix for this issue, or is the widget just broken?
I can appreciate wanting to stay on top of your data usage. The widget is a great way to do so, but I'm sorry to learn that you are having these troubles. Have you been able to remove the application and then try to re-download it?

My data widget stopped auto updating after the ios 9 update. Not i have to tap the widget to open the app for it to update. This is an annoyance. The widget is useless since i can just see data usage in the app. I already uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no improvement.
Figured out my problem. In settings/general/ backgroynd app refresh, my settings were changed by the upgrade. Just had to retoggle the verizon app so that it would refresh.
I am glad you want the widget to work. Here is an idea. Why don't one of you expert techs - get an ipad out - install the widget - see for yourself - then give us customers a solution. I can't believe that you experts haven't thought of that but you really do not have a solution for the problem and you are not going to tell the customers that. And, please stop asking if the problem is still there. Just my .02 worth and I am a paying customer!
