I wanted to do the simple task of activating a new Verizon prepaid wireless phone but with my old Verizon phone number. My issues, briefly, are:
1. MyVerizon will not let me change devices. I enter the information asked for but the page just hangs. Same result with different browsers. I run Linux at home but everything up to this point has worked fine.
2. It is next to impossible to get a real person on the customer support line. Then when I got one they couldn't understand me well enough to actually help me with the activation process, except to direct me back to "MyVerizon" which of course hangs so I'm stuck.
I'll try MyVerizon tomorrow on a Windows computer and see if that is the issue. If not, I may have to activate the stupid phone with a new number. It's sad that a telephone company is so poor at communication. If there was any other carrier that got good service where I live I'd dump Verizon in a heartbeat.
I'm not sure about prepaid, but with post paid I simply take the SIM card out of the active phone I no longer want to use and put it into the phone I do want to use. That completes everything required to make the change. I do not have to do anything on Verizon's website or call in to CS. Simply changing the SIM card completes the change.
If it is a prepaid device like you can buy in the plastic packages at Walmart or Target that HAS NOT been active on a prepaid account for a minimum of 180 days, you WILL NOT be able to activate it on a postpaid account.
You cannot just go buy a prepaid phone and activate on any old account. If you have a prepaid account, you can activate on a prepaid account.
sprmankalel is right if you don't have the phone activated for 6 months on a prepaid service you cant activate it on a post paid account.
If your trying to activate it on prepaid you might want to call in.
