Data stays turned off on both phones on my plan, except for a few minutes occasionally while away from Wi-Fi. We have lived with 4 Gigs of data between us with no problems for many years, by limiting data and using Wi-Fi almost exclusively. Notified this morning we are running out of data!!!! How is that possible when we're always on Wi-Fi? Checked usage on my phone... almost nothing used this entire period (Dec 29-Jan 28). Checked my daughter's usage... almost nothing used from Dec 29 through Jan 4. Then on Jan 5, there are excessive downloads EVERY 6 HOURS to the minute, every day and night. Facebook app shows up as the biggest user of data during the period, but it's impossible to correlate the timing of data transfer (every 6 hours) with Facebook usage.
How, why, is Verizon using data when it's turned off?
espeletaj,
Data usage can be tricky to track down. We understand it can be confusing to keep track of and manage. Let’s get some details. What model phones are you using? How did you turn the Data off on each device?

Both are Samsung S7 models from Verizon, brand new in October 2016. Data is turned off by pulling down top panel of home screen and clicking off the up/down arrow symbol that signifies mobile data transfer. My daughter doesn't have the patience to research why Facebook has been pulling so much data, so she's since uninstalled that App and the problem hasn't recurred.
