We are seniors living in Manhattan and have not had landline service since late February. We have an internet/phone bundle. We called Verizon billing to ask if we could pay just for internet service & what that charge would be. We were informed that the internet portion of the bill is $25 & that we could just pay that amount without penalty. We were also informed that the lack of phone service was due to a cable failure that occurred in late February & that is scheduled to be repaired by 5/30/20. Just received this monthʻs bill & not only are we being charged for full service but also find that thereʻs a late charge for partial payment of the previous monthʻs bill.

We have called the 800 number & were told once again that we may continue to pay only for internet & that Verizon will make an adjustment once they get around to fixing the landline. My concern is that Verizon may turn the account over to a collection agency. 

Needless to say, this only adds to the stress we all our undergoing at this time. Calls to Verizon end up somewhere in India where itʻs difficult to understand the rep or they cannot answer your question.  Is there another way of getting our bill adjusted to reflect the lack of landline service.

You posted your question in the Verizon Wireless Community forum which is for the cellular wireless side of the Verizon business. Based on your question you actually need to reach out to the Verizon Residential landline provider instead. The Verizon Fios forum is a more appropriate location for your question.
