Old number change

So l for the first time am looking to change my old phone number which I have had for more than 2 years with verizon. Yesterday I tried looking for a new number on myverizon online. Now I know there is particular recycling of numbers which mostly is done every 6 months so there is not a lot of choice. So when I was checking for a new number yesterday I became aware that after a set of new number searches the system locks you out. That means there is a limit on new number searches. Now it is absurd that it is so difficult to search for a new number from such a few numbers that a recycled. Also you have to wait 24 hours for the system to reset so can start searching for new numbers again instead of say like an hour. After calling customer service twice I have still not received any satisfactory response to why there is a limit, the limit size and any other help to be able to change my number.

Thank you for your kind perusal,

LandOfTheFees.
