I have the same problem. It seems to be common practice. I always thought that to renew a contract I would have to give written or verbal consent. I knew I had to move out from my premises so why would I have agreed to renew any contract? Now I found out when I tried to cancel the Verizon service that I have automatically been locked into a two-year contract. Not a proper way to treat longtime customers.
A telephone bill tells me how much I have to pay. A contract is an agreement between 2 parties or more.
