Will I have to pay tax on the full price of a discounted device?

They just charged me 55 dollars state and local tax on an s10 I received free for buying an s20 ultra. I called and the representative pretty much told me I'm messed up so I will send back the new phones cancel the new lines and all additional lines as well and hope Verizon enjoys its 54 bucks. They will guoge me with another 100 bucks for restocking fees but I am done.

Jcallicutt54 I'm a little confused and want to make sure I understand. Whenever you purchase anything you are always charged taxes for the retail price. Even if you win something, you pay the taxes. I hope that explains the first part. Please tell me how I can help to turn this around. DoloresK_VZW
