As the title says, I have yet to receive either of the two port-in credits as was advertised on a national level during the last couple months of 2014. I was aware that it would take 2-3 cycles; however, 5 billing cycles later and still no credit.
I called in to customer service for resolution, and no am being told that even though it was a National Campaign, activating through non corporate Verizon retailers (ie. Bestbuy) did not qualify for that offer. But nowhere could I find anything that supported that, but was it what was promised during activation. We were told that by porting #'s to Verizon, we would get the $150 port credit for each line. In addition, if we had opted for the edge program, we would receive $150 bestbuy gift card each line. We passed on the Edge Program, went with the 2yr option and left with the understanding of future credits, which benefited us more to offset the bills seeing as we seldom frequent bestbuy.
This is extremely frustrating and discouraging, considering not only were the port credits advertised through tv and online, but also verified by the bestbuy rep and even a corporate verizon store employee, whom we contacted to see if they were matching the bestbuy $1 S5 pre-black friday offer. The rep said they were having the same offer (or free) but not until black friday and only after M-I-R. Prior to ending the call with the verizon cor employee, he did verify that the port credit is for anyone who ports in to Verizon, even if purchasing through bestbuy. With family coming in town, dealing with the hectic crowds was not likely, so we decided to go to bestbuy.
I've contacted customer care, with no success and am not wanting to continue service when this shouldn't have been an issue and been applied already. I don't want to be the type to jump ship because of one issue… but when you factor in roughly the $145-150/mo for 2gbs shared data, unl tlk & txt, this makes switching carriers seem like the best option. Especially considering we maybe use 1/4th the data monthly anf had to pay activation fees (which phones activated through edge program activate through the same systems but yet don't get charged). Any thoughts on how to get this resolved quickly? Thanks in advance for any assistance and sorry for the long post. Have a good day.
Best Buy should have told you the $150 credit for porting your number and buying a phone on the Edge plan. 2 year contracts were not eligible.
During my call with the Verizon customer service rep, she had confirmed that the 2yr qualifies for the $150 port in credit. However, she said that its only through "national locations". I asked if she meant corporate owned verizon stores, and she said yes. This is a quote from a site, and several others out there just by googling confirm the 2yr as qualifying.
"In addition to all of that, Verizon is also launching a promotion where they will offer a $150 port-in credit to customers switching to Verizon that sign up for a 2-year agreement or Verizon’s Edge program. Both the pricing and the port-in credit are a limited time promotion, so they do not reflect a permanent chang of Verizon’s pricing or customer porting offers."
The link is an outside add. I found several, and all had different information, not all were correct according to your information.
WHile porting your number in through Best Buy didn't trigger the credits, It should have been something Best Buy knew about. Did it come up when you set up service with them?
Here… this link should satisfy any doubters. 3rd party's included, according to a verizon customer support rep through these forums.
Heck, just hit the search button and type "credit" and you'll find im not the only one.
I still haven't gotten mine either, called Customer Service and they said they are submitting something to correct, but there are a lot of posts around the site of people getting the same response and not getting a follow up, so we'll see.
So, its been close to 2wks already, and my last conversation with CC, the rep submitted a form for credit, stating it would take up to 7-10days for corporate to issue the credit. Still no credits applied. The rep was very helpful, made sure the acct was put in dispute, gave me all the details. Why corporate has yet to issue the credits is beyond me. The rep on the phone verified the credits are valid in addition to the second link I posted above, from a Verizon rep on this board. Extremely frustrating this has become.
The advertisements for the $150 "port in" credit is only valid if you port in and sign with the edge program.
These are the details ---->
For a limited time, receive a $150 bill credit for each wireless port to VZW
when activating on a smartphone with Verizon Edge. The $150 bill credit applies
within 2-3 bill cycles.
If Best Buy didn't notify you of this then it's on Best Buy.
I've got 4 lines I'm still waiting to receive my credit for as well. I've talked with CC at least 5 times now (lost count) over this issue, was told they would support the paperwork to push it through, was told 7-10 days, called back 2 weeks later, was told an additional 2-3 cycles. I called back today on it and they did a manual adjustment on the account (120 went on immediately and the remaining 480 should show up in 24 hours)
