They got me too because the chat rep straight up lied to me.
I switched to Verizon because they were offering the $100 prepaid mastercard for bringing your own phone promotion. I brought my Galaxy S7 to Verizon in the middle of November and just upgraded to the pixel 2 about a week ago and a day after I upgraded they rejected my pending $100 promotion. I spoke to the chat rep BEFORE I upgraded and asked if upgrading would affect the $100 promotion and he told me "No, upgrading won't affect any of your pending promotions." He then proceeded to walk me through the entire process of upgrading. I took his word that I would still get the $100 prepaid card. I've tried emailing several times with no luck. Thinking about returning this pixel 2 and going somewhere else.
I am also the victim of same scam. I will say "DO NOT EVE-----ER SWITCH TO VERIZON Ever". This company is a big scammer. Stay away from this company. I paid $1600 for switching 6 lines to Verizon after an assurance from store manager that i will be re reimbursed for every penny. This amount is only for the phones. All I received so far is $260 and an answer from customer service that your case is accelerated for review. I got the same answer month after month. My understanding is that Verizon never intent to pay. They will pay you a part to just make you feel that you will get the rest some day but rest assured that day will never come. I am going to file a complaint with BBB .
You are not alone here.
I have received $60 for 1-year old iPhone instead of promised $650. When I called and requested the phone back, they claimed that it is impossible to return. So instead of $650 promotion bonus, I have a stolen phone.
Definitely, will never use this company again and will never recommend anyone.
I join the growing number of people who were deceitfully scammed by switchover promotions. In my case they were offering a $200 prepaid rebate for "bring your own phone" during the final week of December. I began signing up online 12/30 but then began communication with a "Verizon specialist" after it said there was error checking my sim card for compatibility (from different carrier). The rep assured me he could check on his end after we signed up and that "Yes!" I would be eligible for the switchover rebate that ran through 12/31.
So I proceed in that manner and he completed the order, then mailed out the sim card and said all was set. Due to the holidays the actual sim card did not arrive until January 3 (days after the promotion ended) and I activated it immediately then completed the switchover form, based on the 12/30 order date and the customer support assuring me I was eligible.
Now I check and the status says invalid and customer support just says "it had to be activated before the promotion ended." I would had walked to either of the Verizon stores within one mile of my house to enroll in person by 12/31 and receive the sim immediately, had the customer service person not completely falsified the truth by claiming I was eligible even though I needed the sim card mailed to me. This is truly repulsive customer service, after I had just read another story of a woman who was misled by the same promotion for more than a year until finally it made news and they coughed up the rebate. I will file a complaint with BBB and wherever else deemed appropriate.
