Text and Emails from Verizon only in Spanish

I'm getting billing notifications and emails in Spanish. This started when I upgraded my phone. To be clear, this is Verizon emails and texts ONLY. Please assist.

MEEULKSTER, being able to read your content is important. You can change your language preference alerts online at My Verizon under My Profile: http://vz.to/1IyEvcR. Let's look into this and ensure your messages are displaying in the correct language. When did this start? Were there any changes to the phone when this started? What is the make and model of the phone?

Why, oh why, would the default settings be set to Spanish? It is irritating.

I was able to fix this by cycling the language on my account, i.e. clicking 'Espanol' next to Account in the top-right, then clicking 'English' on the Spanish page. 

No clue why these would have defaulted to Spanish, but there you go.
