Trade In Credit - Verizon Lost my Device - BE WARNED

On January 30th, I purchased a new iPhone 13 online. In exchange, I was offered $700 as a trade in credit for my old iPhone XR. That phone was sent in the box provided by Verizon along with the prepaid label.

On February 14th, that box with my iPhone XR was signed as received by the Verizon warehouse.

Since then - I have no news. The trade in is marked as device received / pending... 

I've followed up over a dozen times via phone, chat, sms, and each time I'm told we're opening a ticket, we're filling a report, etc, etc.

On multiple occasions, I am told by the reps that once the initial investigation clears (8-10 days), that the credits will be applied in full $700 to my account. That was early June.

Here we are, July... no resolution... and the latest response from Verizon:

"We definitely received a box from you. It was empty. We have filed two different types of investigation on our end to resolve this for you over here. Without that phone, I cannot offer any credit resolution. I do apologize. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I must"

All signs point to Verizon failing to file a claim with UPS in the necessary 60 day timeframe or to their theft of my device and $700.
