I am experiencing an issue when sending emails to text via either vtext.com or vzwpix.com. It's my understanding the issue started around May, but I was just now pulled in to look at the issue. Our email server repeatedly gets an error that the ESMTP server is unavailable and messages go into a retry status until they time out. My SPF record is correct and has not changed. We have had no issue sending to other sites and have had no known changes that would cause this. I have read elsewhere that Verizon limits emails sent to vtext and vzwpix in order to avoid spam to text, but the volume of our messages does not exceed 10 messages a day and doesn't seem to classify as excessive to me. I have included a snippet of the SMTP logs below. Any assistance would be appreciated!

I know how important it is to send e-mails via VText, billvor9090. Let's get to the bottom of this.
I just sent a test e-mail from Yahoo and Gmail, to my vtext.com and vzwpix.com and they went to my phone. How big are the e-mails? Do they include attachments? What e-mail account are you sending from? (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc.)
Thank you for following up. The messages come from our self managed on-prem Exchange server using email domain mmhealth.org. We are not sending attachments and they show in the email queue as size 2 KB, so very small. We only use vtext.com/vzwpix.com to send small simple text alerts on urgent system issues. Only messages sent from our on-prem server are being blocked. If we send an email to vtext.com/vzwpix.com from our Office 365 hosted accounts, they send without issue.
Thank you for that information, billvor9090. We deeply apologize, but it seems that you are using our free texting service for a Business use.
The service that we provide using vtext.com and vzwpix.com are for personal use of our customers, so we do not provide support to Exchange Servers having issues sending those messages. We would suggest using the hosted accounts that do not have an issue sending messages using those consumer texting options.
Since I have you SteveG - I what is the server and port for vzwpix/vtext numbers? I tried both smtp, smtpsp (from 2004!), outgoing.verizon, along with ports 465 and 25 and TLS on and off. Is there any documentation I can find on this? This is strictly for personal use.
normanras, there's no port information that exists when using http://spr.ly/6600Hvcfr or http://spr.ly/6601HvcfT in this case. When you send a message to a Verizon number from your email you're going off your email provider information, not Verizon.
The only information we have is at the link attached under 'Sending Messages' Question #4 at the link here: http://spr.ly/6602Hvcfp
