What happens to the $15 reduced smartphone fee if you keep your phone longer than 24 months and don't trade up?  Does the fee stay at that level or go up to $40 per month?

As of right now you keep the discount and you pay only the $15 Line Access Fee.

Great question! I apologize for the confusion. Once your current Edge agreement is over, the discount associated with the agreement is no longer applied.  If your decide to Edge Up again and the promotion is still available, it will be applied.

But you can then add the month to month no contract credit for the same $15 or $25 reduced fee.

Yes, as @Weth posted, you can get the out of contract discount, but you have to ask for it, it isn't automatically applied to your account.
