I had an offer in the My Offers section on My Verizon. It was for $679.99 trade-in value for my Galaxy S7 edge off the price of a new Galaxy S21 Ultra. I thought this was a great deal, even though I really wanted an iPhone 12 Pro. I went in to a corporate Verizon store and showed them my phone to make sure it qualified for the offer. They assured me it did, they put an inspected sticker on the back of my old phone and I walked out with the new Samsung S21 Ultra and the return box and shipping label for my phone to return to Verizon.
After I had received confirmation that my phone had arrived in the Verizon warehouse, I checked on it and was told that my phone did not qualify for the promotion because it had some dead pixels in the upper right of the screen, which I never noticed and either did the Verizon store person who inspected my phone. But the Verizon rep said they had pictures of the dead pixels or spot on phone. They said I still qualified for another promotion of $440 trade-in with a damaged phone. I felt I was stuck, but I was still in the return period. I should have returned the phone. However, I accepted their offer and they said that it was all set and I would see credit over 24 monthly credits starting in next billing cycle. Well, instead of getting that promo I got another notification that the $440 had been revoked because they had not received my device. Another call and over an hour later they cleared up the situation because I had my tracking number and they verified they reinstated my promotion and it was straightened out.
Well, I just go my latest bill, they disqualified me again, this time because they said I did not have the right unlimited plan. Plus they charged me $258 and change, additional, on my phone bill against the promotion which I never got in the first place. I did not receive even one credit or anything.
So, 4 more calls later they want to upcharge for the "correct plan" so they can honor the promo. So, I would pay an additional $10/mo to save $440. I net $200.
This all seems like bad business practice and very deceitful and misleading. I wish I had my old phone back. And off course it's too late to return new one.
Has anyone else had such issues with promotions and what did you do to resolve? Am I stuck? I will definitely look into changing carriers and just paying off the phone. I have 4 line and been with Verizon for many years.
Yes they are trying to mess me over on the $450 bring your own device promo. I was told I would get it 1-2 billing cycles and that’s all I had to do, then I called to follow up and they said that I didn’t fill out a form so it was too late. After, many call and chats, they offered me $250 per line immediately but, I told them I wanted what they promised. If I don’t get a response by this week I am going to the BBB, social and anyone who will listen. Seems like they promise the world, try to get you on some technicality that you didn’t even know, offer you a lower deal then take forever to get that to you. I guess they hope you get tired and forget, but they still got you. VZ is horrible. I am sorry for what you are going through.
I checked my own "My Offers" through the app to see how easy or difficult it was to find info.
App had promos BOLDED. The next page took me to what Samsung's were included in the promo I selected. Once I hit "view", it took me to a product page with "Ways to save" down below. With a See details link. Qualifying phone models for trade and names of qualified plans were in plain sight.
The My Offers could have been placed somewhere easier to find, but everything else was easy to verify after finding it. You can't blame Verizon for not checking yourself here.
We understand this has been frustrating for you. The $450 promotional rebate does require a form to be completed. You would have gotten emails and notifications in your My Verizon if this was not completed. We cannot add a promotion that does qualify to your account and in order to qualify, you do have to complete all the steps including the rebate form. The best we can do is offer you the credit that we did. Would you like to review your account to have the credit of $250 applied?
I do not see how your comment has anything to do with my thread. I had no trouble finding relevant offers, that was simple. I had trouble getting Verizon to honor them.
