Verizon sent my account to collections without resolving dispute.

I had a verizon wireless account which I disconnected after 2 year contract. Everything was verified by me that I don't own them anything and I was no more on contract, but after some time verizon sent me a bill with early termination fee on it which I disputed. Every month I was calling them, I got response that my account is under review. Suddenly this month, I received a mail from Collections and my account was sent over to collections without notifying and telling me anything regarding the status of dispute.

This is such a harassment from verizon and now that I am going over reviews and comments on forums from other people, verizon is in this bad practice of doing this to so many customers.

I am not coming back to verizon anymore for my whole life.

I can understand being upset when learning that your account was sent to collections. Especially, since you were "under review" for the early termination fee. We don't want you to feel harassed at all and would like the opportunity to look at things. Please check your inbox for a message from me.

I too had a similar situation where I had a subaccount under my account whose bill was sent to my parents to handle their VZW lines. My mom passed away 2 Decembers ago, and in efforts of closing down accounts not being used anymore, VZW managed to allow my dad to close the account without him paying for any outstanding balance. We were not informed through any proper channel that the account had delinquency. Here it is a year and a half later, and I on my main account cannot make a purchase on anything on my main because of a delinquency on a subaccount that doesn't belong to me, and VZW just won't write it off do the death in the family. It isn't my debt, and here, I have been a loyal customer for over a decade. Poor form. I wish someone would call me to fix this so I can continue to get the next phone I need as I am still paying for a phone number not being used because the device is broken. I will be willing to have my dad (who doesn't work) resolve the original debt amount if someone reaches out to me. Considering VZW doesn't make the effort to reach out to us by phone, it is unjust that they charge us for any interest accrued on this delinquency. I contested it with the credit bureau, and won, so I thought the debt was resolved, but it is not. VZW is greedy and unjust.

JakesterRN, this is definitely not the experience we want any of our customers to go through. On behalf of Verizon Wireless, we send our condolences to your family. Whenever an account is disconnected, we always send out a paper bill to the address we have on file. We are so very sorry that your Dad did not receive that to understand there was a balance due. Regrettably, there is not a way for you or your Dad to settle the debt with us, as that account was sent to a collection agency. Whenever that happens, Verizon Wireless does not have a way to even access the account. We truly apologize that this has happened.  AliciaD_VZW
