Does just getting notifications of emails and replies on Facebook use data? Is there a way to just airplane mode certain apps like Gmail but still be able to access Google maps? When you come off airplane mode, does it just use the same amount of data for apps to get notifications as it would if you weren't on airplane mode? Does turning off notifications reduce data? Or are apps still using data and just not notifying you? Thanks!
The only way to prevent data transmission is to enable Airplane Mode. Regrettably usage can not be restricted to specific apps/notifications. However, Emails, small photos, basic web pages - those are all measured in kilobytes. So in most cases they don't affect your usage a great deal: https://www.verizon.com/support/understanding-data-usage-video/ . I hope this is beneficial.
