What condition is the device you're trading in?

If the device is not returned in the condition stated, your trade-in value may change.

Samsung Galaxy A31, 128GB BlackEdit

Good condition

If your device turns on, has no battery damage and no front or back screen cracks.

Damaged condition

If your device does not turn on, has battery damage or has front or back screen cracks, we'll ask you a few more questions.

Tell us about this device.

The device can be powered on.

The glass is free of cracks and the screen is functioning correctly (both front and back, if applicable).

The activation lock is turned off (i.e. Find my iPhone/Action lock/Anti-theft protection).

The device is free of battery damage (typically indicated by swelling, leaking or it being too hot to touch). Devices with battery damage can be recycled at a Verizon store.

I put the same exact information that the phone does not turn on during the upgrade process and said get up to $400 but on the estimate tool site it says its worth 0 since it does not turn on. So which one is more accurate?

If you are trading in a phone just by itself, the value is going to be much lower. If the phone is not operational, then the value can indeed be $0. We do, however, have promotions from time to time that allow full promotional value for a device that is damaged (barring swelling or damaged batteries). Those promotions will apply during the actual ordering of the new phone. You should process the trade in during the order phase. Not separately.

How can I know the exact value before committing to the upgrade?

My 2 cents unless it states otherwise I would assume a broken phone is worth zero.

But I would rather find out before committing to buy a new phone so I do not send in a phone that I'll never get back regardless of the value

Even if they guarantee you $400 judging from the posts here it will take months and a lot of calls to verizon to get the monthly credit on your bill.

I would also want to know the value of my trade before moving on with getting a new device, ru10is. The good news is we have a place you can go to check this: https://www.verizon.com/trade-in

Thanks for reaching out, I hope your night is going great. We want to help in any way that we can. Just to clarify, is this trade-in you are considering part of a promotion? If so, what promotion is it? Thanks in advance.
