I've had my extender for a bit now, perhaps a year. Recently, I noticed it started dropping my cellphone's connection about twice a day -- whenever doing something data related such as listening to a podcast. Usually, I've been no where near the box when this happens, but yesterday I happened to be there when it dropped. The display read 'starting up' as if it had spontaneously rebooted. The extender and my DSL modem both run off of a UPS, so I'm positive it wasn't a power hit.
I've tried power-cycling the extender, but it hasn't improved the reliability. I've not yet done a factory reset on it. I'm wondering if it's starting to have a hardware failure.
