Why does my Network Extender interfere with my Amazon Fire TV box?

When my Network Extender is connected to my home network, it makes my Amazon Fire TV box useless.

It reboots itself, freezes, and will not stream movies.

As soon as I unplug the network cable from the Network Extender....it works fine

They have different IP addresses so it is not a conflict issue

If disconnecting the Ethernet cable from the NE resolves the issue that would suggest the internet service or router. If it was RFI from the NE, I wouldn’t think disconnecting the Ethernet cable would stop it. I can suspect several service providers, but Cox isn’t one of them and the SB6141 is just a straight modem so that leaves the router.

Have you reset the router and tried the NE and AFT together before customizing the router’s user settings? At any rate, resetting the router is a necessary first step.

Also, try putting the NE or the AFT in the router’s DMZ. That might be the simple fix to allow both to work together. Try the NE first, put its IP address in the DMZ and see if that doesn’t resolve the issue. The Netgear Forums should be able to help with this if you can’t figure it out.

What about the NE and the rest of your network, do they continue to function normally?

Describe your network layout! Who is your internet provider and what brand and model modem and router are you using? Have you reset the router and tried the two devices together before customizing the router’s user settings?

Yes it seems to....although browsing the Internet may be a bit glitchy...or slow...my iPad froze trying to get on this sight to check for a reply....I unplugged the NE and refreshed the web page and it's ok now....not sure if that was a coincidence though
