As pointed out above, Google Chromecast is a Google product not a Verizon product.
You hooked up the USB port and the HDMI port. Select the source to the proper HDMI port.Do you see Chromecast setup screen? On your phone, you should also see the Chromecast broadcasting its wireless name for setup. You will want to connect to it and then configure it from your mobile device or laptop. Once its csetup and connected to yout wifi network you should be able to "cast" to it.
