I mentioned listening to a Scanner was one of my passions on here)  but there is something I like just as Much and it's watching YouTube videos of Trains especially the Older one the one's that Ran the Rail before most of us was born well except for Mr. Elector you Sir probably seen many of these in your younger youth, And you may have been a passenger on one of them,  if you were I'd like to here the stories of it.)  The neat thing is some of these Giants are still around Running the rail when there not in there protected shop buildings.. I rather see em this way as to rusting away at some memorial park

One of the Giants and i Quote it is the Biggest steam Engine to ever run the Rail in the Mid West and the Mountains and that's Union Pacific's Big Boy it will be a woken again in the very near future, This giants is going to be restored by UP's Steam Crew.. it is NO. 4014 it's out in California now but the steam crew will soon move it to it's new Home Cheyenne,WY one of UP's biggest yards and the and the Home to the Steam Program..

One's that would Like to Follow the progress on 4014 can look here as I will post a Link or you can Go to YouTube and just search U.P Big Boy 4014 restore and it will bring all up that is available on it's progress and when it's done and it's smoking down the Rail you bet there will be a Following young and old and when it come to a Town a town the Crowds will be Big..

Here is the Link to U.P.'s  4014 on YouTube NOTE I used Google's URL Shortner as the Link was really long..

http://goo.gl/A5nbxM

I'm also going to provide a few other Videos I viewed and liked of the older steam Engines Like 844 and 3985 and UP's E-9 units from U.P. and from one of Santa Fe's  No. one Steam Engine's 3751

Here is Big Boy's Little sister UP 3985 they call her Challenger she can move she can pull and she looks like a Beauty..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhgHrDbN4EU <> UP 3985 pulling 143 heavy up Archer Hill

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yg3vMwf494M <> UP 3985 Pulling 143 or so Circus Cars 2 weeks later I seen her in Marysville KS with out the Circus Cars but never less she was a great Site to see, one Note to pass on Big Boy is Bigger than Challenger she has 2 sets of 6 and is labeled as a  ( 4-6-6-4 )  while Big Boy has 2 sets of 4 Driving wheels.. and is Labeled as a ( 4-8-8-4) To see 4014 pull Sherman Hill again for the first time since being retired will be something that no one will want to miss..

Here is 844 she's the speedy little Girl in UP.s Steam Program she can Reach Speeds up to 120 miles an Hour but U.P. wouldn't push that speed as she's to vital to the Steam Program..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyTORMEourg <> 844 leaving Wichita KS with a little Humor and wind mixed in please continue to watch as the Video Gets better.. Kudos to Treyvs in Filming the Video one reason I posted this Video when 844 passes you'll see a Great Man up in the Cab he is Lynn Nystrom  here is a Video of this Great Man he left us Train buffs to soon)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COL7UBYA-5A

Here's 844 Moving Down the Rail with another great man at the Controls he's retired but I bet he'll have one of the First Invites to Run 4014 when it's time to Cross that Bridge..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-k3RYeqGAA <> 844 chugging Down the Rail in Kansas Steve at the Controls This is a very interesting Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfGi21wDKcM <> 844 at out on the open Rail..

Here is some of UP's other Great Heritage Trains::

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CiaMxujw88  <> U.P's E9 units in 2012

These is Santa Fe's Great Steam Engine 3751 it came thew Kansas a Long Time ago Video Quality wasn't as great back then as it is today but the Videos that i put on here shows 3751 in fine Detail..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD40cBwA0AI  <> Santa Fe 3751 in California in 2011

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jln4mabkW20 <> Santa Fe 3751 in California in 2013

To end these are Videos that you can find on YouTube but i put there Links on here as there part of my favorite Videos that I'v saved over the years with a membership ones can do same as I have with mine)  I hope you like them as Well as I do please enjoy.!  b33

Ha ha no just Amtrack is the train I ride on. However in the series "Men that Made America" on the history channel show how the railroads got their start. New York Central train yards are in my area. In fact in my home town train traffic old and new have been here longer than my time on this earth.

The railroads were destroyed by John D Rockefeller and his standard oil pipe line. The Carnegie Steel now US Steel used railroads as their customer and as a customer. Carnegie Steel changed the rails to a better more stronger rail system that the railroads use today.  Many years ago the railroads went belly up. Today CTX moves products from hazardous chemicals to government missiles. Times have changed I must say.

"Cheyenne, WY one of UP's biggest yards"

I doubt that statement, but you can believe it if you want to.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Who really cares? Union Pacific is huge in Wyoming or in Kansas City, or New Mexico.......

I know I don't care about railroads at all. But being an off topic lounge at least the posts here are on topic.

Miss Ann The biggest Rail yard in this Country matter fact the biggest in the World is Bailey Yard in North Platte but in it's time "hay day"  I'll call it the Yard in Cheyenne could do Quite a bit including Tearing Down a Full Locomotive Like Big Boy, Challenger or any other for that matter and were talking Manual Labor that isn't seen to much these Days I've watched one of Videos that proves just that,

This is that Video that shows Many of Great things that went on at these shops and the Guy in the overalls that Talks about the Yard is Steve Lee He has many years under his Belt under his Belt one of which was running both steam engines 844 and 3985.. which are still in Running condition today.. Just a note to pass as was mentioned in the Video Cheyenne yard was a Quite busy yard an had the biggest Motor shops in the World..
