Why does Verizon have so many broken phones in ads?

My opinion only, of course, but it doesn't seem like a great way to market phones or service.  First we had phones which were cracked and taped together, then phones getting dropped on the floor or down staircases.  Then there was a phone sloshing around with the laundry in a front-loader washing machine.  Now we have phones being smashed with tools for the holidays ending with a phone dropped in a pot of boiling caramel sauce and slowly sinking in...that one particularly gives me the creeps for some reason.

But I'd take that trade-in phone with the skis on it.  Too bad it's not real. 😆
