twisted pair and NID removal

Is there somebody I can contact to remove the old NID and drop line from house to pole? It was installed before Verizon sold me out to Frontier and when I discontinued with Frontier years ago, nobody from either company ever came out to remove it. A tree trimming crew came today to clear trees off the power lines and they left the phone and cable lines hanging way down, a few feet off the ground. I had been leaving well enough alone until today. I got them to come back and set the lines higher and tried telling them that I don't need the phone line, to disconnect it while up there, but they didn't. All they did was hook the lines around the pole steps, so I expect they're going to come down again with a good wind.
Will Verizon come remove their box and line or not? If so, is there a human I can talk to in order to get someone out (at Verizon's expense) to deal with this? I tried the main support line and finally got someone in India, who gave me another number, which only sent me to automated support oblivion.
