UPS Shipping Change Issues

I got a notification my new iPhone would arrive today so I made sure I'd be able to be home to sign for the phone. Unfortunately UPS doesn't give any time windows so of course the delivery was attempted in the short window I was showering. I figured it wasn't a huge deal and I could just use the delivery slip to have the delivery held at the local UPS center where I could go sign and pick it up. Apparently Verizon has locked it so that no changes can be made to the delivery and I just have to take another day to wait at home and hope I don't miss the delivery again. I would have gladly picked up in store, but Verizon wouldn't allow that due to the backorder issue and waiting would lose the promo trade in credit. Has anyone had luck in a way for UPS to hold the package for pickup? This whole process has been exceedingly frustrating and is making me wonder if other carriers have better service.

We know delivery windows with shipping carriers can sometimes be inconvenient. Generally if you are able to get to the shipping hub this evening, you would still be able to pick the package up if you bring your ID and delivery notification with you. I have personally done this in the past as well I have spoken with a number a customers who have also successfully done this. However if you are unable to get there this evening, they will try to deliver it again tomorrow. I hope you find this information helpful.

I called over and they do not do that anymore. They have to change delivery to a UPS Store location nearby, but Verizon doesn't allow that with the orders. The response that "they will try to deliver it again tomorrow" is reflective of Verizon's lack of customer service throughout this process and is the reason I am considering switching carriers. It completely disregards the fact that people have to take days, missing work, family events, or other obligations, because Verizon cannot work to allow customers what they need. Verizon just assumes everything is the customer's problem.
