Collections notice on my credit report

I signed up for Verizon services but canceled within an hour. Despite this, the device was still shipped to me. I returned the device within two weeks without unboxing it. However, I have now received a bill for the mobile device and a month of service, even though I never used the service or transferred any of my numbers to Verizon.

Iโ€™ve contacted Verizon support multiple times and was repeatedly assured that I would be refunded once the device was returned. I was also informed that I wouldnโ€™t be charged for the first month since my numbers were never transferred. Despite this, Verizon has reported this issue to collections, which has negatively impacted my credit score.

At no point was I told that I would be billed for the device after canceling, and this directly contradicts Verizon's return policy. I was consistently informed that I would not be charged, especially since I initially paid $200 during registration, which was supposed to be refunded. Now, Iโ€™m being told I must pay for the device, which contradicts what I was told previously.

After speaking with the collections agency, they informed me that only Verizon has the authority to remove this debt from my credit report. The only way this can be resolved is if Verizon deletes the debt from my credit report, as it is currently affecting my ongoing loan processes.

I am urgently requesting assistance from a direct specialist to resolve this matter. Iโ€™ve spoken with customer support multiple times, but no help has been provided.

If this issue cannot be resolved promptly, I am prepared to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

I appreciate your immediate attention and guidance in resolving this matter.
