Fios Outage

This is a warning for consumers looking to purchase Fios, think carefully about whether you want to risk the installation and router cost! In the case that some Verizon hardware goes down near you, you'll just be out of luck and need to subscribe to a separate internet service.

I purchased Fios about two years ago, and the service worked fine, not great, but fine. I live in a large apartment building in the middle of manhattan, and I have been stuck without  internet service since August 10th (almost 3 weeks).

After calling support over a dozen times and Verizon sending a technician to my building,  we determined that the MDU unit in my building needs to be replaced. Problematically, Verizon is unable to tell me an estimated restoration date because they can't even locate a replacement part.

So after three weeks, and no real restoration date in site, I  just had to give up! I hope this post prevents others from making the same mistake.
