We were recently forced to upgrade our Fios equipment - router, extender and STB. We were happy with what we had, but the new equipment has been anything but wonderful. It started with the installation:
Installation
received 2 routers - why?
too many loose parts, and not clear which ones I needed for my installation
at least 2 installations instructions for the extender - they contradicted each other
online support
spent 5 hours over 2 days getting extender up and running; in the end, I fixed the issue myself through trial and error
was switched to a different tech person on the same chat thread 3-4 times and this happened in both tech threads
misleading info about the video service installation about where it needs to be placed
no longer have a STB, now have 2 boxes (and 2 more plugs into the wall). Not clear how these are like the STB
Install of the stream tv and video server took quite a while to self install
Not clear why I want google/android
Use
Could not figure out how to get to tv channels - did online tech chat
got passed off 2 times to different tech people for something as simple as getting to the channels
no information about how to use the remote
usage of the dvr is confusing
painful to get to the dvr list of recordings
remote is too dark to see the buttons unless the lights are fully on in the room
remote buttons are too small for adult fingers
bigger delay when switching channels
sometimes channels freeze up or delay video output
STB had a clock - don't have anymore; bought one to replace it... one more plug in the mix of cords behind the furniture
STB had a channel display, no longer have that
REW on tv is sluggish
Channels dropped before the new service was supposed to kick in
