The My Verizon App is apparently no longer compatible with the S5 older OS version. The problem I have is that when I try to log into my mobile account on the website it sends a notice to my phone to open the app to verify and grant access. Opening the app gives a message that the app is not going to be supported on the OS and recommends to update the OS which I can't. I have no idea how the app was set to be the means for this 2nd authentication method. I would have selected Text code or email but was not given that option. I don't recall what 2nd verification method was used as I rarely needed to sign-in to look at my mobile account. My recent attempt was to look at offers for a new phone. I realize the S5 is old but works fine for my needs.
Calling Verizon support was a many hour failure. No one knew how I can gain access to the account without using that App. I was instructed to re-register which still required using the app to verify, resulted in a 24 hour lock out for too many non-authorized attempts as well as somehow cancelling my paperless billing. A visit to the local Verizon store was of no help.
All I want to do is access my account to probably get a new phone from Verizon and correct my billing method. At this point I don't know if buying a new phone elsewhere and trying to activate it is possible if I can't access the account.
Can I get an answer on how and who do I contact to get this straightened out?
Thanks
