Plan is not as described

They offered me a promotion for Christmas for a $200 amazon gift card and they were going to reduce my bill from $55 with xfinity to $30 a month. No contract, no fees. Well I was given a contract that if I left Verizon I would owe the $200 back for the gift card so it actually is a contract. Second I was charged an installation fee when I installed it...Third my bill was $55 a month with terrible internet service. I spent hours and hours on the phone to get adjustments made and managers on the phone and it turns out the lady just lied to me on the phone and offered something that wasn't even real. So I was sold Verizon internet from one of their customer representatives and never got what was promised. No refund no nothing...I also found out that every customer at Verizon is charged up to $15 dollars a month because you are with an "old plan" meaning if you agreed to pay whatever for your phones, if your plan is out of date (you havnt called them to renew a plan that is unlimited and set in stone, you will be charged additionally for it. Verizon home internet is terrible and their customer service is beyond atrocious. If you like getting people who can't help you and management that will never call you back, if you like hidden fees and being lied to Verizon is the internet for you.

They want you to pay back a gift card if you cancel the internet service?  I checked the website as there's always some kind of promo for the home internet service up, and yes, it's in the fine print that if you cancel before 180 days, then Verizon can charge you back for the gift card.  Shocking!  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Regarding the pricing, I suspect whomever you first spoke with thought you had a current mobile plan which can be bundled with the internet service for a discount.  But since you have a legacy plan, you don't qualify.

If your agreement is for 180 days of service before you can cancel without having to pay back the gift card, the upshot is it's now June and you signed up back in December (?) based upon your earlier post, so the 6 months is almost over.  But check your actual paperwork so you don't get burned, in case your deal was different.  FYI - go into your My Verizon and print a return equipment label for returning the internet gateway and whatever assorted parts came with it BEFORE cancelling the service.  Otherwise, you'll be stuck in an endless going nowhere with trying to get a fabled "return kit" which nobody seems to be able to provide, and Verizon will eventually charge you $200 for "non-returned equipment fee"!

Fully wired internet service (cable or fiber) will be more consistent with data speeds than "fixed wireless" internet, which runs off cell phone towers.  Sounds like you had a pretty good deal with your old ISP.

No they informed us that the discount was going to be a promotion they were offering for switching; that the price we were offered did not reflect till after โ€œit was appliedโ€ which means after we had been walked through the process of agreeing and being swindled..she said donโ€™t worry the price doesnโ€™t show right now it will be adjusted on your bill; after we signed the lady saidโ€ฆand confirmed our bill was going to be $35 for top notch internetโ€ฆ.I already called and canceled; have a shipping label being sent back to me. Already checked my 6 months was up..I had to call to cancel; then call to cancel again because they didnโ€™t cancel day of, they canceled (as effective of the next billing cycle which meant a whole month of me paying for something I didnโ€™t have anymore). I never thought I would be treated by a company like this the way I have been.

I'm going to leave Verizon because all the discounts they offer I never see get a new plan get a discount so I call them and they say they set it all up and next month yes I have a new plan but I have a bigger Bill too oh that's all the other access that has to go with it. I don't think they know anything but lying

I know I would share your same frustration if I had expected a new plan at a lower billed cost and the opposite happened when my bill arrived, Choop. The last thing we would want to see is for you to leave us. We will need account access to look at the bill together with you. Please be on the lookout for a private message from us so we can help.
