I am a U.S. service member with order to PCS to a US terriority that is not serviced by Verizon. I tried to terminate my contract early to transfer my existing numbers and Verizon is charging me fees in the form of the promotional credit discounts on my phone. Is this legal because legal consul say it is not.

I would like a phone number to talk to someone that is familiar with the military. So far I have been in store twice, called the support line, and been through two chats. The in store people gave me a bogus number to call, the phone call support made it worse, and the chat line cut me off and stopped responding.

Speculating you got your phone through a "free phone" deal where you have to stay with Verizon for 36 months before the phone is free. You can leave early, but then have to pay the remaining balance on the phone for whatever time you didn't stay on the contract. May not be called a contract, but if it looks like a contract, acts like a contract, and treats you like a contract...
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Not a free phone but a discounted phone.
