Trying to transfer to new carrier, cannot access 2fa, cannot access transfer Pin

Hi there.

My child and his father shared a Verizon cell phone account. Unbeknownst to me, his father removed himself from the Verizon account leaving just our child. This past weekend I went to another carrier to transfer our child's account to my carrier. The sim card was taken out of the Verizon phone and shredded while we waited for the transfer pin.  We didn't know that his phone was the only line on the account because his dad didn't tell us.  In order to get the transfer pin, Verizon keeps sending a 2fa security code to his number, but we can't receive it now because that sim card is gone.

How can we get the transfer pin to port the number to the new carrier?  I can't even log in to the Verizon account because it sends a 2fa code for that too.  Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

We're sorry to hear that you're having so many troubles with the transfer PIN and 2FA. The last thing we want is your child to not have their phone number. If we're not able to authenticate the account due to not having another line on the account, please go to a corporate Verizon store with a valid ID and they can help you. The account owner will need to be present.

Ok so once we go to a corporate Verizon store, show valid ID from the account owner to verify the account, they will be able to port the number?

Great question, Izlandia. As long as the account can be verified with a valid ID from the account owner, we can then help with a SIM card replacement so that you're able to receive the transfer PIN. To make sure you're set up for success, we'll be sending a Private Note.
